Karl Dahlman invented the Flymo electric hover mower. Dahlman created the mower after seeing Sir Christopher Cockerell’s Hovercraft machine in 1964. Flymo is a brand name of the Swedish company Husqvarna AB, which was previously a division of Electrolux. The mower is similar to a traditional petrol-powered rotary push lawnmower, but it uses a fan above the spinning blades to allow the mower’s body to hover over the lawn. The mower’s design made it more maneuverable and easier to push than traditional wheeled petrol mowers while producing comparable results.
